Default Those aggravating water spots on stripes

Ok. I got the 2007 Premium GT. Gray and had the red vinyl stripes put on end-to-end. Put on the ceramic shortie headers, put on the x-pipes and new muffler system front to back, put in the Hurst shifter, put in the high dollar cold air deal, put in the loud axle backs, had a front-end spoiler and rear window covers custom painted and installed, installed the sequential tail lights........and then the water spots hit on the stripes....UGH. I have read some of the "try this" and "try that"......(Psst..I even had the man who installed them do a reinstall under warranty and it did it again). Is there any hope of a product or solution (that really works)?

I hope you find an answer. I am plagued with the same problem. I have tried everything I can think of and so far I have not found anything that will remove them.

I'm really sorry to hear about your stipe problems!!!

I have white stripes and they look great - in my opinion...

Do you cover your car? do you wipe it down after it rains? We have very hard water here and if it rains and your car is uncovered - you're getting big spots... on everything...

I am thinking you might need a good detail and seal... then keep them as dry as possible...

I don't let rain or bird poop bake onto the car/stripes... and I use instant detailer quite often... along with a very good detailing routine, which includes a couple layers of wax... and a sealant twice a year

I am just not sure why you're having such a problem Let's see what others have to say!!!

Painting is one way - but not practical if you're watching your money.

Plenty of people have vinyl and don't have problems - mine are going on 3 years - can you add a bit more like your care routine, what brand stripes were put on, etc? I just think a bit more background info would help...

Try some white vinegar mixed with water (1 part vinegar to 2 pts water). If that doesn't work, you could try some Limeaway or CLR. Turtlewax Ice spray does a real good job on vinyl.

I agree.....Try using Turtle Wax Ice. It works great on just about any surface - plastic trim & mirrors included - & doesn't leave any residue. I have black stripes on Redfire & when I wax the car I wax EVERYTHING with Ice including the stripes. Also use a good spray detailer between washes such as Turtle Wax Ice detailer. Also the brand of the vinyl DOES make a difference. Hands down 3M is the best vinyl on the market. Good Luck!!!

A friend of mine just bought a leftover 08 Shelby GT with acid rain spots on the stripes. They are replacing them under warr. I do some graphics for a few police depts. and have seen this with some brands of vinyl. The vinyl Ford uses is junk, IMO. Very hard to work with and it does not stand up to the weather. Some colors are worse than others, the silver is real bad. The waxes you mentioned may help protect them. The local Ford dealer seems to have somebody there every day replacing stripes. If I had the money to put into a Shelby I would go the extra and have the stripes painted on or go stripe-less

Where are the AFM fashion experts when you need them?
Doesn't everybody know that you shouldn't mix stripes with spots?
