I think the water spots is something you have to deal with from time to time. Maybe a good polish and wax will deter that though, as waxing a car is usually the remedy to the elements- wax a car every now and then. The water should bead off.

As far as those nasty spots on the windows have you tried to use the clay bar on it. I have had some on my Expedition and it solved the problem. But I still get those streaks.

2) other problem is when it rains I get horrable water spots all over the car. anybody else dealing with this?

thanks for any help.

Wax them with a good carnuba wax. It will polish them up like new and its like rain-x. You can do both inside and out also helps with the window fog.

I found this stuff called "Zap" to work wonders. Sadfully the only way i could get it was from a friends father who stole it from his work (Concrete contractor).

Next best thing i could say is stop by a glass shop and ask them what they use. When i had my windshield replaced they had some no-name-ish cleaner which worked as good as the "Zap" stuff i used.

+1 on clay bar!! you must use it at least every month. Remember, glass is a liquid, and it has some affinity to salts, this is what you are smearing when you dissolve them with cleaners. To get rid of salts, you must pull them off your surface. Clay bar works in this department.

Hell you guys (and gals) is gettin' all fancy on me. I'm just a po' white man (network engineer - lol) and all I cans afford is water.

Seriously though, as for the interior glass all I've used is standard household tap water, a spray bottle, and several microfiber cloths. I spray the water directly onto the cloth, NOT the window, and then rub it all around niiiice and deep. Hmm...almost sounds like a massage. AAAaaaanywho...then I take a dry microfiber, and use it to essentially "buff" out the water/film/whatever. Since I got my windows tinted and they said basically to not use chemicals, I haven't used any glass cleaner. They actually recommended Joy, in a ratio of about a teaspoon to a whole spray bottle of water.
That being said, I have also had a recent run-in with sap (ahh...my arch nemesis...we meet again) right on the windshield, right in my line of sight directly out the front of the car. Rubbing alcohol (or Isoprpyl - not sure if they are the same) and then water and something to dry it off with.

Them's be my two cents.

I use a streakless auto glass cleaner, I forget which brand, but one thing I seem to differently that others here is that I use a cotton terrycloth towel to wipe, not microfiber or newspaper, and streaking is not a problem.

Honestly I dont get this thread...streaks? Just clean it and pay attention when you get done. For me windex is fine (aerosol cleaner is good also) with some newspaper.Dont soak the windows and when wiping it off use vertical wipes followed by horizontal wipes. The is so you can see the streaks, and use the dry side of the newspaper to buff out the streaks otherwise you are just wiping the windex and streaks back on. It works for me,hope this helps.
