Wash it in a kitchen sink full of water and a teaspoon of Dawn Dishwashing soap, the hand washing kind, not the machine kind.
Swish it around and lightly massage it with your hands. Then rinse it out very very well. Shake out the excess water and hang it somewhere to dry for a day. You could also run it through your dryer on air fluff for a bit, if you can stand the clunking noises.
It'll be good as new. Inspect it for bugs and trash tangled up in the fibers before using it again.
