I thought that was illegal to do. I thought there was some in the aftermarket too.

Honestly that sounds like a bad idea and wouldn't really be worthwhile....
You can buy the black (illegal) plastic covers that look good though

Better check the laws in your area... could be illegal.

I've got some AVS blackouts from my '92. Like new if you want to buy them. $20 + shipping. Here in SC they are not illegal, only the ones that go on the brake lights are. Let me know.

Sorry about hijacking your thread and turning it into a classified ad.

My friend has those black plastic covers, but he can get away with it because he's a cop.

Anyway, they look cool in the day, but they are worthless at night....I mean dangerous. It's like driving with just your parking lights on. On coming cars can see you.....but it's like you're relying on everybody else's light to see anything.

I have the GTS blackouts on my Saleen (purlpe) and they really look iller. I have had them on for 4 years now and no tickets! They are a pain at night though, but mine just snap in (1994-1998) and will snap off just as easily (about 5 seconds).

should be able to get smoke headlight covers. they dont 'blackout' your lights like the limo tint would. but ya, coudlnt imagine painting my headlight covers though. i wonder about using window tint? na bad idea!

For a second i thought someone was going to say GASONLINE and a match...(smoke headlights)

But seriously, DO not paint them. If anythign order a set of SMOKEd headlights. CHeck ebay, or any other place that has mustang parts. Like 5.0 resto, etc.

Covers are another idea. But of course check local laws first.

dude you can buy a set of headlights that already come smoked, they are legal, and you can see in the dark with them just fine, alot of aftermarket websites carry them, easiest safest way to go about it

My husband has tried smoking the taillights on his Honda Civic by spray-painting them black. First of all, it doesn't work, and secondly, it's illegal (every state). What he ended up doing was going to a hobby shop in town that sells small cans of spray paint called Tamiya Color. They have the color Smoke. After preparing the surface, paint the lights, adding coats to get the level of smokiness that you want. That's what he did, and it looks really awesome even if it is just a Honda
