Default why did my paint do this?

when i bought it, it didnt look like that, nearly as bad. just only in small spots. i dont have a covered place to put it, so its always out in the elements. i live in hawaii, so i am guessing it might be from the salt and intense uv rays?

however, im thinking that it must be something that happpened, or didnt happen, when it was being painted, or maybe the type of paint used?

can anybody help me figure out why this might have happened?

also, how would i be able to fix it? it continues to happen. those small bubbles will turn into big ones and they "pop" or something, and peel away, like dry skin after a sunburn or something.

i say my car has 'dandruff' lol.

I had a black explorer the same year a while back. It had the same think happen, but within the paint warranty period. I got a new paint job for free. The dealer told me that for some reason they had trouble with some PPG black paint that year. It wasn't specific to car brand or anything like that. The only way to fix it is to re paint it.

My work truck has done that. It is a Chevy though. I have seen a lot of cars with that crap. Have no idea why it does it though.

What has happened is the stablizer in the paint has failed (very common esp on the plastic, car may have been cheaply repainted for resale)..recommend Maaco for a good affordable respray, $500 + for basecoat clearcoat and 5 yr warranty

Those small dots are from the salt in the moist morning mist. When the mist drys out it eats the paint. Now a days there are special paints you can buy to solve this problem but it cost a pretty penny. Let me know if you want more info...
