Unhappy simple paint job gone bad.

My car ! I need tips and tricks on touch ups for scratches.
here's the general 411 : my car was vandelized !!! i bought all the stuff for it and a friend who works with fiberglass helped me and instructed me on what to do. he filled them in and had it ready to paint ......after i started the painting process my daughter sprayed the area by accident with the hose. this made it look absolutly horrible. so i decided to wait to go any further until i talked with my friend again on what to do.....well while waiting for him to get back in town a reletive decided to take it upon himself to help out. he has sanded it so far down that the primer is gone and now the fiberglass is exposed! i just want to scream !!!
i am set on doin this myself....(ego thing) plus gives the car more value to me as the owner, i like to say "i did all that" .
anyway..........i open for ideas here.
thanks:

Just dont panic

You might as well paint the whole piece now, but first step is to have the color matched to the original and sand the rest up to the primer, apply a new coat of primer and repaint, then wetsand and polish.

You need a good COACH, and most importantly a steady hand and a quality paint gun and clean environment in wich to work.

I have the paint to match, only i had it put in a spray can. Im pretty good when it comes to spray paint.(dont ask...lol) and have the stuff in case overspray does occur. it is coming along better now that i have the project in my own hands again.
the next step will be getting the scratches down the sides taken care of. know of any tricks to make that less painful?
thanks,
michelle

dont waste your time with the can paint im telling you if your painting it and it jams up some how and spurts the paint out your gonna be pissed. now if he sanded it down to the fiberglass dont freak out. all you have to do is build it back up with primer, just like i said dont use can primer either that stuff is a joke but its not my car its yours. Best thing to do is go to sears or home depot get a hvlp gun and go get some good dupont primer and the paint that matches the car and paint it better products make a better job its kinda like buying a hooptie compared to a ferrari you get what you pay for. you can get a hvlp gun cheap that will work but the better the gun better the paint but the gun dont make the painter. if your pretty good with a can i dont see why you cant do it with a gun. dont be scared the way i see it is if someone else can do it you can do it. get a hvlp gun and practice on some other things first if your not ready to jump right in just like they say practice makes perfect. also single stage paint would be alot faster then 2 stage paint like base/clear. i dont really know if your just painting a door or your painting the whole car. just save your money deal with the way it looks for now when you get you money together spend it and do it right.
