Looking for the best way to get small specks of tar off the hood of my 93 mustang. Will clay remove tar?

i use Simple Green. Let it sit on there for a minute or two and rub it off with a towel then spray the rest of the simple green off the car's paint with water

I have been using turtle wax bug and tar remover for years with success. That stuff will safely remove just about anything! It is in a blue and white can.

Yeah I'd go with the bug and tar remover, the turtle wax bug and tar remover I have is in a black spray bottle.

Thanks I gave the Turtle Wax Bug and Tar Remover a try and it worked great. I did have do a little extra scrubbing with my finger nail but all the specks came loose and the hood polished up great. After that I ended up finding little tar specks all over the car and just went ahead and cleaned the entire car with the Turtle....

I know this thread is a couple weeks old, but I just seen it. I worked at a detail shop for awhile, and they used paint thinner in a spray bottle. You would have to rub on it for an hour for it to hurt anything. Only thing is, get the rag nice and wet, and do not "scrub" at it.

Mr. Clean Magic Eraser did a nice job on my husbands car removing tar! Read directions, wet and rotate it!
