Default Paint estimate?

How much should I expect to pay for a fiberglass cowl hood to get painted?

i woulnt pay no more then $100 to get a hood painted if you pay $500 like this guy says your getting your hole reamed badly when you can probably get a decent whole car job from $1200 to $1500. but if you wanna be dumb pay shipping both ways and ship it too me give me your stock paint code number for your car and ill do it for $500.

100.00 will cover the paint materials, if you get a complete paint job for 1200 to 1500, you probably went to Earl Sheib, and you got ripped off. A decent complete paint job usualy starts at 3000.

To answer your question Juan, expect to pay from 325 to 450 for that hood to be done in a profesional shop, or you can send it to killamuh50 and he can use his house paint for 100 bucks.

dude are you serious? really? you think that $100 will cost just for the paint and materials. If you take it to a body shop or you have every even been in one obviously you havent. they have this thing called a master tint system, where they have tints that they can use to mix your paint right up from your code. Really obviously you dont know nothing about painting a car. seriously you just sound like it. Really how much paint do you think it would take to paint a hood? since you know so much? tell me i would like to hear what you would say. If you go to earl schib and you pay $1500 for a paint job your getting ripped off and if your so dumb that you would pay someone $3000 for a paint job your really stupid. But sure you can come to me ill paint one for you for $3000 just cause your that stupid ill spray it with single stage and you would probably say man thats some nice clear coat on there. Really $350 to $450 would buy the paint to paint a entire car and if you have painted cars or like a body shop already has MATERIALS cause they do it everyday. Dude if you pay someone $350 to $450 to paint a hood your a idiot. Like i said to the guy with the post if he wants to pay $500 for a hood to get painted give me his paint code off his door ship me the hood pay shipping both ways ill spray it for him i'll even do the underside of the hood for free for $500. If you dont beleive me ask MR TEETO on here if painting a hood for $450 or $500 or whatever you said is a rip off or not he knows alot ask him. Before you post go learn something cause you sound really dumb and i dont think you know anything about painting at all thats why someone like you would pay someone $3000 to $4000 for a paint job and they are using about $500 to $600 thats paint materials etc to paint it and they are putting the rest of the money in there pockets and laughing at you. But when you want a paint job ill paint something nice just for you say chromalusion on your car. Bring me about $10,000 since that paint changes colors and someone like you would pay a body shop that much to do it. So give me $10,000 a maybe a good solid month ill throw a nice paint job on your car and maybe spend money on Dupont Paint not house paint. then i will feel good about pocketing your hard earned money cause your a idiot.

oh yea this one is also for kruse2293, my paint gun cost $450 to $500 so get real dude with your house paint comment. Ever heard of Sata jet? go read a little or learn something before you post talking some bs you dont even know about, just cause your buddie or someone you know works in a body shop or you went and got a estimate from some body shop to paint your hood for $500 dont mean you know anything. Believe me if you came to me with your new 05 mustang cause thats whats in your picture, and wanted me to paint your car id tell you $500 too wanna know why cause i figure if you got money and your stupid enuff to pay me that much id do the same thing. Get real. And go learn something if you dont believe me ask teeto hes worked in body shops for 6yrs seems like he knows what hes talking about ask him if your not getting ripped for $500 to paint a hood see what he says. Body shop supply paint and get it dirt cheap so mixing enuff paint to paint a hood would probably cost them about $20 a the most cause they buy so much bulk. Go learn a little bit then come post.

Killamuh is right though, my buddy just bought paint for the whole car for around $600 for some pretty good paint. Expect to pay around $3000 if you have some really bad rust spots, Id say.

well wanna know what? a bodyshop will probably use about $40 worth of paint at the most to paint your hood, actually probably less then that since they buy so much bulk, if you pay $500 to get a hood painted theres something wrong with who your going too. Always remember this if someone knows something about something that you have no clue about, THEY ARE GONNA RIP YOU OFF!!! Good luck

I think $40 would be a little low for materials. Your going to use half a pint of unreduced paint. A pint of paint is around $40 itself so half that would be $20, then add sealer maybe about 15oz. of catalized and reduced clear and a few sheets of paper for prep your into the $100 range just for materials. A good way to see if your getting robbed most shops take their bodyshop labor rate and cut it in half for paint and material charge. So if their shop rate is $50 and hour their material rate is $25 an hour. Lets say a hood pays 3.0 for refinish time thats $75 for paint and materials.

body shops buy so much bulk spraying a hood would cost almost nearly nothing. If they have a master tint mixing machine they only use certain tints to create the desired color. Yea a pint would be enuff, yes a pint if you buy it over the counter would cost about $40, yes if you purchased all the materials, paint, etc to do a hood yourself it would cost around $100, but a body shop it would cost them almost nothing to do it. They buy it in so much bulk they get a discount anyway. So it probably cost them about $10 in paint to do it not $100
