Default Severe Hood Damage!!!

I havent got a pic yet, but ill be sure to post it when i do..

Anyway, ive got a question about the plastic cowl that kinda fits itself around the wipers on the old 87-93 stangs... ive got an 88, hence the name, but recently the hood flew up while i was on the highway (long story) so now i have this massive crease in my hood.. not to mention a fu**ed plastic cowl, and or windshield.
Now the question...
The layer of metal that lies between the end of a stock hood, and the beginning of the windshield... not including that of which is attached to the fenders...
If i get a cowl hood, like a 2-4incher... does this area get taken out?

I only ask because the damage to that area and to get a new 'stock' hood is going to set me back 1300 canadian, and thats alot for an 18 year old whos in college full time. But i cant drive around my baby in the shape that its in... so im looking for any option to lower the replacement costs...

Any suggestions will help greatly.
Thanks everyone.

Well $1300.00 seems possible. That area your talking about can easily be pulled and straightened out. Mine was. Now depending on your damage , and how many hours to fix it.It could certainly add up. The windshield installed is less than $300. The black plastic cover (Louvered)for the wiper arms are available via the after market,I think through Latemodel Restoration Supply. I think mine at the time 1990 or 1991, new from Ford was $150.00. The area is part of the structure of the fire wall and is not removed. A used steel stock hood cost me about $250.00. I paid that much for mine in 1990. Keep in mind it was completely rust free, but a different colour. These hoods are now usually pitted with rust. So any prep work and paint colour change cost$$$.The thing is to get it straightened and fixed properly. OR Pin the hood down and live with it till you get more cash. and fix it a bit at a time. If you go that route , make sure the hood doesn't bind on the fenders when you open/close it .
