Angry Deep Scratch!

Ok, somebody put a nice key mark across my door! It's pretty deep and I was wondering if I had other options besides touch up paint or dealer paint job. I have tried a couple of products... maguire's scratch remover and turtle wax color cure. They blended it a little, but it's still pretty noticable. What can I do??

Unfortunately I don't think there is. I had the same thing happen to my 92 and nothing I tried seemed to work. Ended up getting it painted. Be sure to let us know if you find something that works because it would be real handy from time to time.

If it is as deep as it sounds, the only thing left to do is go with the touch up paint. Sorry, maybe someone else will have a better idea.

Default rubbing compound

I'm not sure at how deep your scratch is, but you might want to try some rubbing compound on it. If that doesn't work than the only other option that I know of is touch up.

Look at the scratch. Is it through the clear AND color to the primer? We need to know how deep it is. If it only went through the clear and half way through the color you CAN "POLISH" out. Please do NOT use rubbing compound!! If you can see primer(gray in color) or worse metal, then nothing will help except to cover the scratch with paint. Either touch up or dealer paint. Here is an article on paint touch up.Touch up paint

Sorry about the rubbing compound remark, I guess you aren't supposed to use it with clear coat. I personally have used rubbing compound on cars and have not had any issues. I have only used clear on one of my cars though. The other cars I have just put 3 to 4 coats of paint but have not had any issues when using rubbing compound. If rubbing compound will damage your paint worse, by all means do not use it. Sorry for the bad advice.
