Default Best Wax

I got a new GT this last week, Its a 2003 and you can tell its been in the sun all summer with out being wax. Short of getting it wheel and wax by a professional, is there a wax out there I can do myself that will bring the color back looking like it just rolled off the assumbley line agian? Just curious what everyone is using and had the best luck with. Thanks!

I used that Nufinish stuff once and it worked great. otherwise I tend to stick with zymol.

Default Goooooood stuff!

I use Zano Bros. Harder than Hell to find, but it works better than any stuff on the market. Trust me! If you can't find that, Meguiar's Gold Class with an orbital polisher. Apply wax to car using an applicator bonnet. Then, remove the wax with the polisher using a terry cloth bonnet. It should go without saying to let the wax haze but do not let it dry! Then, go over the car with a final polish using a wool or simulated wool bonnet. This will remove any oxidants and really bring the shine out. Finally, I always go over the car with a terry cloth towel and detailers brush set (for emblems and corners) just to make sure that all of the wax has been removed. Just remember this. Wax was not designed to bring out the shine but rather to protect the paint. For best results I follow these steps. First I wash the car completely. I do not use car wash but rather shampoo's (Boyd's makes a really nice car shampoo-AND DO NOT USE DISH SOAP!!!). The car shampoo will froth better and provide more adaquate lubrication so as not to scratch the finish. After the wash I dry using a synthetic cloth (The Absorber works best). Then I go over the car with a polish to bring the shine out. After that I will wax to protect the finish and bring just a little more pop out. Hope this helps. Sorry about the book.

HoustonStang,

check out Nino's site.

http://nino.dnsalias.org/carwash/

you won't be disappointed. i personally use Meguiar's NXT polymer. but i will be trying Zaino's as soon as my april 11th, week build sonic blue '05, GT arrives. if you are curious about Zaino, do a search on it in this forum and you'll get a bunch of threads on it.

i wax my cars every week. but if you tend to wax infrequently, Zaino is supposed to last up to 3-4 months!

i just tried claying for the first time. the results are incredible. i did three of our family cars including a 13yr. old saturn. the old car looked lack luster since i bought it used 5 yrs. ago. nothing i tried seemed to work prior to claying it. i couldn't be happier w/ the results from claying it. claying really works. you cannot get good results w/o claying an old car it seems. it is really easy. when i felt the clay bar actually removing the contaminants, and then the ultra smooth surface as the clay bar glided over the same surface the very next stroke, i freaked out. it is like magic.

guys use clay on even new cars to get off the rail dust. i'm going to if my '05 ever shows up. :-P the mother's promo video says the most critical time to clay a car is in fact when it is new. otherwise, contaminants will be sealed into the paint by waxing over it.

follow nino's instructions, or other ppl's detailing guidlines which are bound to be similar, and my guess is you will be pleasantly surprised at your results.

Zaino and Meguiar's are two of the best waxes around.
I had great results with the Meguiar's tech wax though.
Meguiar's=:thumbsup :thumbsup

Default F21 wax

I've had good results with F21 wax made by turtle wax and easy to use. Its resonably priced too.

I love waxing. I'm an Eagle One guy mostly. I start first with the super concentrate bucket free car wash and really pay close attention to dirt anywhere! Then I use the Nano Wax they just came out with in March I think. It has smaller molecules so it fills the scratches in better. It also gives off a great shine. Then to preserve the shine Eagle One has a Wipe n' Shine that you just spray and wipe off easily right before the show or just in your garage. I waxed my Dad's Dakota a month ago and living in Florida this time of year it doesn't rain it pours everyday, but the rain still beads off! And this is not a garaged truck either! So this Nano Wax is awesome!
