Conversation I'm planning on having with the body shop owner: The words in brackets are to keep anonymity, I don't want the shop to try and hit me with slander. Adam: Hi, I’m calling to see if you’ve been able to contact Bob at Saleen.
Owner: Yes Adam, I have. Saleen blah blah blah, I’m tucking my tail and running and blaming it all on Saleen.
Adam: Well, I’ve been trying to give you an idea but I don’t think you’re going to figure it out. First off, I got a shoddy job. I brought my car to you guys because I thought I was going to get professional and quality, not amateur work. But I see several clues that this is exactly what I got:
First, I had to return my car to your [other shop owned by this man that is closer to me] on several occasions for certain flaws (Like paint drips and spots of primer that wasn’t painted) that they seemed to have no problem fixing for me. Only to pick up my car with a few flaws remaining untouched, not to mention completely new ones. (Like new “scuffs/scrapes” from removing paint drips and wet sanding the paint down to a mirror finish like it was prior to the accident). Spots of primer remain showing on the car. The paint is swirled up worse than my old paint and the new paint doesn’t even have 1500 miles on it. Half of the screws you used to mount my body kit are painted black, while the other half are silver and actually look very used. The body kit and spoiler is deformed. The installation and tape job on my spoiler is shoddy. My chrome valve stem caps were missing. All these things tell me that quality work was NOT done on my car.
I couldn’t even bring these things to mind when I met with you as I was too busy freezing my ass off. At which time I didn’t even receive the courtesy to be invited to bring my car into your shop to look it over.
Now I’m going to tell you what I want:
I want my body kit AND spoiler replaced.
I want the new parts prepped, painted, and installed properly, with matching screws.
I want the swirls out of the paint and more clear coat on it, as there is obviously not enough on it as it is.
And I want my chrome valve stem caps back.
If I don’t get what I want:
First I’m going to call my lawyer, and don’t think I won’t. My family has legal insurance and it won’t cost me a dime.
Second, I’m going to call the Better Business Bureau.
Third, I’m going to call Channel 2 News.
And I won’t even stop there. I’m going to show my car at the World Ford Challenge this year and I will distribute fliers sharing my experiences with your company.
Now I’m leaving the choice with you, the ball’s in your court. You call me when you figure it out.
He's been trying to brush me off in the past. But this is to show him that I'm not just some kid to be walked over. I'm 22 years old, I'm past that. I've been polite to him long enough.
