Hi, I'm just about ready to take my 66 Mustang over to the shop for paint. It is pretty much dissambled right now, should I take it over in pieces and have the hood, doors, front and rear valance, etc, painted seperately and then put it all together when it is done, or should I put everything on and get it straight before having it painted?

The absolute best paint job you can get will force you to put it all together and get everything perfect , then tear it all down , have it painted and then put it together . Probably not what you wanted to hear huh ? It is true . But you can get a decent job by just putting it together and having it painted . I would do that instead of having it painted with out fitting everything together first . I'd be pretty ticked if I just had my car painted and had a problem fitting something and scratched my paint It's all up to you

Thanks for the advice. I am leaning towards having it painted seperately and then putting it all together later. But then llike you said if I do it that way, I still have to put everything together first and get all the seams lined up perfectly and take care of any uneven areas and other body work, then take it all apart again... Doesn't sound like fun!

Well if you want a show quality paint job , thats the way to go . Good luck

Yea, I would take it all apart, paint it, and put it all back together. Remember to keep some touch up and tape on hand.
