Totally confused about Mustang Cobras!

Could someone please clear up the contraversy we're having about cobras. Please define a cobra and how does a person know if it's a cobra or not. Our son has an '87 and has been told it was a cobra, we have an '87 that we've brought in from the states. Would really appreciate it if you could clear this up for us.

For that body style (1987-1993), the only cobra made was a 1993 model. There were no 87-92 cobras.

Thanks for the response but another reason we're confused is we picked up an '87 brochure on the sales of mustangs and the only one that doesn't say cobra was the LX. This is an original '87 mustang sales brochure.

there was a decal/stripe package available in Canada called the Cobra that was available only on the GT's, in the states, there was no Cobra mabe after 1981 until the SVT Cobra was released in 1993

All the GT's from 84-92 in Canada were sold as Cobra GT's. There is nothing special about them it's just how they were marketed in Canada. This is a good page on this topic.http://www.mustanggt.org/canadiangt/canadiangt.htm

Thanks for the responses, next question..... how do we find out for sure if we have US or Canadian stangs? We do know one is for sure a US but not sure about the other.
