Question big butt=big crack

Crack in the floor that is!
The left rear leg of the driver's seat in my '82 stang broke through the floor board.
The metal is cracked apart for about 8" around it.
My question is what would it cost to get this fixed? Do I need a whole new floor pan or can it be fixed just around the hole? I just got this car for $200 and it already had the hole. I've already got the I6 purring like a kitten but It's not drivable with this big hole.
I am NOT a body guy and would use a shop, what should I expect to shell out? I have to decide if it's worth it, as it has 190k already. and it needs other work, like the brakes, suspension, etc.

Thanks for any info folks!

I would think you might just want to replace the whole pan. (May already have other weak spots.) I would check the others as well..

Otherwise likely would take some sheetmetal and do some nice welds to fix it. I don't know how much that would actually cost you but since you have only spent 200 dollars on the car...

Anyway, it's going to be more than you expect.

My sisters first car was a old beetle and there was a hole in the pan
and although there was other damage to the car, it would've cost to much
to replace the pan so she just sold it. I would take it to a local shop that has free qoute things
and get it checked out thats the only way you'd know the extent of the damage
I hope it works out for you

If the metal is just cracked and nothing is missing you can have it welded. Just take the seat out and move the carpet back to allow access for the welder. All this will save you money.Alot of times you can take it to a muffler shop. They have MIG welders there and will do it for cheap. Good Luck

I know they used to sell special service floorpan reinforcements geared towards
law enforcement back when the cops drove Mustangs, but I haven't seen them
advertized lately. They simply dropped in under the carpet. Subframe connect-
ors lend additional support to this vulnerable area also.

Default quick fix

the easyiest and cheapest was to fix that, is a get a piece of metal that's bout 10 inch big around, pull your seat and fabric and seat up, put the metal down and have it welded, then just have a hole drilled and put a bolt in that hole where the seat is goning to mount.

If you're really looking for cheap and easy, go to the neighbor's in the middle of the night and grab the realtor's sign off the front yard. I've used these twice to fab floor pans for POS vehicles.

Also, your body shop (if he needs the work) can add a piece of steel (welded from beneath) that will suffice for the short period the rest of the car is gonna last. He will not charge too much for this.

Now, if you want a quality job to IMPROVE the life of the vehicle, then take it to a quality shop, wait your allotted place in line, and have them replace the floor pan.
