Question Touch Up Paint

I used some touch up paint on my mustang for a scratch, and it came out way darker than the rest of the car!!!! I checked the color codes and got the right touch paint; I even got it from a Ford dealer. Is there some technique that use to put touch up paint on, or does the touch paint go bad after being opened once? (I opened it a week before I used it just because) I don't get it....

Don't think it was anything you did, and the paint should not go bad that quick. Does your car sit outside a lot? Could be that the paint on your car has faded, that happens real quick with colors like red.

Like Ron stated, your paint could be faded. That would be my guess.

That could be it, it does sit outside all the time. How much damage can the paint take from sitting outside? Will the paint start chipping real fast or anything?

On your color code , most of the time there are many different shades of a color code .
I would go to a automotive paint store , and have them make something that matches .
The dealer don't know anything about color match .
Sun fading is also a part of it too .
