primer on new body panels?

Default primer on new body panels?
i was just wondering if anyone knew if the primer that came on body panels should be removed before painting. i'm thinkin yeah but my buddy is driving me nuts that i shouldn't. i was gonna just to be safe? thanks for any help.

Why would you want to take off the primer? Just finish preping it out, and get the part painted.
