hi i was wondering if anyone had any tips on heating a dent and then quenching it so the metal shrinks back to narmal. 10 years ago an older body man did my roof and it turned out really good and i have a dent on the top of the quarter i'm doing and don't wanna put bondo on it cause it pops out and it would be a mess lol. i'm not sure if he heated the outside of the dent the middle or the whole thing then threw the wet rag on it. thanks i'm gonna experiment but would like to know for sure lol. thanks again

Big dent? try a plunger, it works!

lol. i can get my hand on the other side of it. the metal is stretched and pops up and can be pushed down with a bang! hehe

The infamous "oil can dent". The way I was taught was to use a rosebud torch tip. Heat from the center in a circular motion spiraling outward.You'll notice the dent growing but as you quench it it will shrink. I use a spray bottle to do this. It may take a couple of times as I don't like to overheat panels But say bye-bye to your paint. Hope this helps

cool thanks alot i tried just heating the outside last night and it got a little better (doesn't pop in and out anymore lol) but i'll try this woohoo! i was kinda afraid to mess around til i got some info hehe thanks! i have the whole car down to pretty much metal i took off 3 coats of paint, don't know how many primers and about a 1/2 inch of bondo!!! so no worries about the paint hahah

hehe i'll take those too if your givin them out lol. thanks its lookin better but the whole top of the 1/4 was crunched and tehn pounded out so i'm goin to get it as close as possible with the new 1/4 and then kitty hair it and put a skim of bondo on it. but its alot better hhaahah thanks
