i just bought a pair of 1986 GT halo headrest off e-bay. as most of you know, they come in gray (unless you are lucky enough to find a pair of SVO's). well, my cobra has black interior. the headrests are made of a foamy type of stuff, so i dont want to just paint them. do you think a simple spray dye will work on these? and im not sure if a gloss black dye will be too shiny, what do you think? please let me know fellas. i've never seen these headrests on a 94+ stang and can't wait to install them and take some pics.

Dye should work, if it's intended for vinyl. Take them into a local body shop and ask for suggestions. They should at least give you an idea of what products will work.
We have a paint/dye spray here made by UHT which is made for changing the color of your interior. I have used it and it works great and I'm sure its made in the US so hopefully you can get it.
For the best results you must make sure you clean the surface properly and remove any waxes or dirt so that the spray dye can soak in. Remember to do 3 light coats over time and not one heavy coat. That way you will get an even coverage that will look great.
Good luck and show us some pictures coz I have no idea what those headrests look like !

hey guys thanks for all the tips, i dyed them a few days ago and they look great. i used Plasti-cote vinyl dye. they came out nice, but they are more shiny than the real leather. i think i've noticed the shine dieing down a bit though. i'll take some pics asap. probably this weekend. thanks for your help fellas.
