Default What tire polish can i use with polished aluminum wheels

I have used the black magic wet tire ( the foam, and the clear silcone stuff) and after about 3 or 4 uses it begins to streak my polished aluminum wheels. I am using the stuff we have at work ( i work as a new car detailer) so far it hasnt hurt the aluminum. Another question is what can i use to clean the wheels and tires beside soap and water that wont hurt the aluminumn. I am just getting tired of the trial and error method, really sucks repolishing my wheels every week.

One thing I've had really good results with is a product from Adam's Polishes http://www.adamspolishes.com. It's called "VRT" (Vinyl, Rubber, Tire). It's a cream based dressing that gets applied with a sponge. It penetrates the rubber leaving a rich moist look. It lasts quite a while and doesn't attract dust and dirt the way many other products tend to do.

As far as not having to polish wheels every week - there's really only two solutions; seal them with something like Zoop Seal or swap 'em out for chrome or painted rims.

I dont have to polish them every week as long as I use soap and water to clean them and use a tire shine that is applied with a sponge. I havent tried the Zoop seal yet so mabye I should try that next.

Mother's Aluminum and Mag polish works great on those type of wheels. I ever used it on old bike frame and it works great. It comes in a small white jar with a red label. I've even used it on chrome with good success. :thumbup

I have used the Mothers mag and aluminum polish before. that is what I used to polish my wheels initially. Myu biggest problem is after time the spray tire shine and even some wipe on tire shines get on the polished part of the wheel and after a while they begin to stain( varnish the aluminum) so then my wheels have unpolished lines in them. I didnt know if there was a tire shine that doesnt hurt aluminum or wont streak it. Now working at a car dealer I have access to all the good qaulity degreasers and cleaners but I can not uses anything except water and soap to clean my tires and wheels, I just wanted to know if there is any cleaner that cleans without taking the polish off with it. I doubt there is but I wanted to ask before assuming.

I "Think" you are asking for a tire protector that wont sling off or run onto the rim?
If thats the case, use a rubber protector that actually "sinks" into the rubber, instead of laying on top. I used to use Meguiars Endurance. It would sling off no matter how little I applied or how much I buffed the residue off. I swear it just sat on top of the rubber!
Since then I have tried more "Boutique" products, like 1Z (Einszett) Rubber.Vinyl care, Wurth Rubber care, Sonus Total Eclipse. Anyone of these don't sling off or if applied correctly will not run onto your aluminum rims!
Rubber Care Products
To clean the tires I like Mother's Rubber cleaner(Purple stuff in clear bottle)
To clean the rims I like Sonus Rim Bright, or P21S.

i use castrol super clean wheel cleaner. it works great! just spray it on and rinse it off when you rinse your car. its the best i've used so far. as far as tire dressing goes, i stay the hell away from it. it looks nice while its on there, but when you stop using it, it will dry out the tires and it also turns the sidewalls brown. i dont think its worth it. i used to use that stuff, but not any more.

I found some stuff, Meguiars makes it. Part of their gold class series. Its purple and goes on nice and even and actually stays on the tires for weeks. I love it so far no problem with it hurting my wheels.

I use Tire Wax from Turtle Wax. You apply it 10 min later wipe it off, tires look great and wont make a mess even if you spin the tires.
