What kind of tire-shine product doesn't splash up onto the car?
I'm currently using something to shine my tires (I think its Mothers tire shine or something like that) which LOOKS good, BUT the stuff kicks up on to my car door when driving. I love my car, but I do get tired of having to wipe the doors (not willing to buy splash guards).
I used to use some foam tire spray by Armor All. It didn't kick up onto my doors, but after about 3 weeks of once a week washing the can is empty.
Anyone have any suggestions on something that lasts a pretty long time but DOESN'T kick up onto the doors?
Mequiar's Endurance works well if you use it sparingly...unless it will fling off onto the side panels. I have a hard time using anything sparingly, so I think I'm going to switch to something else different myself. In my experience using Mequiar's Endurance, even if I apply too much and wait awhile to drive, it seems not to fling off. But who can wait after your ride is clean to take her for a spin.
And usually one bottle of this stuff will last me all summer no problem.

I use Black Magic. I usually put it on after I wash the car when the tires are still wet. Then after I'm done drying the car I wipe it with a rag in a circular motion. 1 good swipe should do it. No splashing onto the paint. Its real thick stuff, and i think letting it set on the tire awhile thickens it up some before I wipe. BTW I use the same rag each time to wipe the tires, it has kind of a build up of product on it. Good luck! :thumbup

I know you younger guys don't think much about them, but I prefer the Turtle Wax products. Never had a complaint from the ones I choose. Turtle Wax TIREWAX does not spin off my tires. It lasts a reasonably long period of time, does not streak, run, or smudge de chrome. It comes with a sponge applicator, and I've used the same bottle for over two years.

There's a new product out by Turtle Wax that comes in an orange container. It's a gel. I wipe it on, let it dry and then go back and wipe off any excess. It comes out really shiny and it lasts longer than anything I've used before.
I use meguiar's endurance shine. ( it is purple) i just apply it using a sponge and let it sit for 10-15 minutes and then take a rag and lightly wipe the tire to get rid of the excess. Even if I dont wipe it I get very little amounts slung off and it never goes to my door. It slings off right by the wheel on the ground effects. If I wipe it and then let it sit and re wipe I have no slingage.

The FX Tire Shine might be what you're talking about. I've got some of that but haven't had it sling on me (on two different cars/tires), though I tended to not put it on too thick. Being a trigger spray, it's not the glossiest product out there, I'm sure, but maybe you're putting it on too thick or some is collecting in the edge of the tread? I can't imagine it ever slinging, at least on my tires.
I do know different tire compounds and sidewall designs can tend to "take" a tire dressing differently, but you might try applying two light coats or try something different in your application (including a light buffing).
Age of a tire and whether or not it's clean can affect a dressing as well.
Personally... I'm not a huge fan of shiny tires and I have found that I really prefer the Reflections Tire Care, which gives a more rich, natural look (and does not sling).

+1 to that!
I use the Meguires endurance gel on my summer tires (no serrations in the sidewall to hold it in, no splatter) wipe and go.
winter tires my sidewalls are serrated and that stuff will stay in every crack possible, so I use the Zaino tire protectant.
Both are excellent, and wiping on the tire is a must.
I use something I picked up at Pep boys. It's a foam that just sprays on with no wiping. It's great! sorry I forgot what it's called... comes in what looks like a spray paint can with black cover. Just spray on and let it dry. It's usually done by the time I finish the rest of the car. No wiping. Stays clean looking for wks.
