Question Removing Window Tint

How do you remove a window tint from the side windows without damaging them. I got pulled over because the window tint only allowed in 26% light and NY state law says it has to let in 70%.

Default Steam

I am getting ready to remove the old window tint from a used 93 I just bought and apply fresh. Will be getting it done locally. I asked the provider how they do it and they said they use steam and elbow grease to get the old stuff off. Sometimes it just comes off easily and other times it can take all day to do a single car. So, my answer is steam.

If steam is the answer, then I'll bet that a wallpaper steamer would be just about the best tool to use. I have one that is ->| |<- this much bigger than the wife's iron. It holds about 16 oz of water, and uses 110 volt ac. And it gets HOT, quick.

Also, most paint stores (Sherwinn Williams) will rent a wallpaper steamer...if they sell wallpaper.

I would NOT suggest borrowing mom's iron. She'll get real mad at you if she finds out how her iron got ruined.
