If steam is the answer, then I'll bet that a wallpaper steamer would be just about the best tool to use. I have one that is ->| |<- this much bigger than the wife's iron. It holds about 16 oz of water, and uses 110 volt ac. And it gets HOT, quick.
Also, most paint stores (Sherwinn Williams) will rent a wallpaper steamer...if they sell wallpaper.
I would NOT suggest borrowing mom's iron. She'll get real mad at you if she finds out how her iron got ruined.
