Paint is great
!! If you don't like the color, you can always redo it.
The tricky part is proper preparation of the surface to be painted. What is crystal clear obvious to some, is unthought of by others, so I will be simple and brief:
1) ANY dirt, grime, oils, wax, etc. will stand between the paint and the surface you are attempting to cover. You MUST remove these thoroughly with a quality degreasing cleanser that does not leave a film of its own. If you can see it (stains), you'll probably need to remove it. I'd suggest a TSP cleanser available in most quality paint suppliers. They mix well with warm water, are safe for the environment, and are super easy to use. Best to take your panels off the car and place them on a workbench.
2) ANY shiny, smooth surface does not lend itself to quality paint adhesion. Plastics tend to be very smooth and frequently shiny. A fine steel wool, or extra fine sandpaper usually breaks these surfaces with minimal effort. Remember to thoroughly remove the sanding residue.
3) My local auto parts supplier also custom mixes paints to match most any color....and does so to a spray bomb
!! For under $20.00 per full size can you could get enough paint to do every panel inside your
Stang. And, if gloss is not your preference, then satin, or even flat can be had at the same price.
