Anyone have experience with different brands and types of car covers?
My 02 pony lives outside -- no garage -- and the biggest problem I have is pine sap from two big overhanging pine trees.
Anyway, I don't have a problem spending a couple hundred on an good quality car cover that will protect against sap, bird droppings, etc., and would be able to be left on the car even in rain or snow.
Any suggestions on brand/model and where to buy would be greatly appreciated!
Jim

You've put a lot of demands on a piece of cloth in your list of requirements.
The best cover for what you've described is a garage.
As you may have already discovered, covers come in a variety of shapes, sizes, and materials. Your requirements will be costly to attempt to attain, if it is truly possible. Protection from tree sap, will insist on a non-permiable material....yet sitting in one spot for an extended period of time requires that the material breathe, else moisture will cause its own damage. Will your cover come off daily, or seasonally?
Check out California Covers. They supply top of the line stuff. Look into renting granny's garage, even if you have to walk a block or two.

LOL!
Yeah, I know -- trust me that's what I'd love to do, but I just blew the wallet on an addition to other side of the house last year. The garage has to wait a few years...
Since the Mustang is my daily driver, the cover would come off most every day. I'll check out California Covers.

True daily drivers are the easiest to cover. Get the toughest, water resistant cover available that has a soft underside.
Weight is not an option to be concerned with.....however
The biggest problem with daily drivers being covered, is what to do with the cover when it is not on the car. Where do you put it? How do you fold it so it doesn't get dirty, day after day, on and off the vehicle. After a while the hassle of storing the cover 8 hours a day, every day, is overcome with the laziness of not using it tonight, and then the next night, etc.
Keep as far away from the neighbor's tree as possible, and don't forget that the sky is the limit. You have the legal right to trim his tree on your side of the fence as far up as you can see.

Fiat Freak - thanks for the advice -- I bought a cover from California Covers.
I described what requirements I had and they recommended an appropriate cover. Paid just under $200, shipped.
The cover came with basic instructions on how to fold the cover to keep the underside clean, tips on usage, washing and storing. Although the one I got is fairly thick and ends up being bulky when folded, it does fit nicely in the trunk of the Stang.
Anyone looking for a cover -- I would recommend California Covers, their prices seem reasonable and they were helpful and quick responding.
