I've got a 40 gallon sandblaster and I went through a 100 pound bag of silica sand and only get half of a rear-end blasted. Is that about right or what's goin on? I just couldn't believe that.

I'd say that's about right! What grade of sand are you using? You may want to switch to a coarse grade sand, (if you are not doing the body metal of course!) I just recently finished the front clip of my '73 and went through 150lbs.!!

Put a tarp down where you are working and try to salvage as much as you can and reuse it. It gets expensive.

Well I've picked up some barrels and I've got a buddy that does windows for houses, so he's gonna give me some aluminum screen that you'd use in a window, and I'm gonna drape it over the time of the barrel to filter out the big stuff.

I suggest you use as much sand as you need. I work at a body shop and the person who sold us sand is out of business.Just sand down a few wheel wells with a da hand sander and youll be happy to pay for sand.
