Default Advice on entering my '05 in 1st show competition

I just bought my GT in April and was browsing around Mustang sites and came across a show flyer for September. I thought maybe I would enter my car in the stock catergory since it still looks like it just came off the showroom and before I do some modifications. Since this would be my first time entering one of these contests I was hoping someone might have some ideas as how to better show off my car. Also, what the judges look for that might help catch their attention. Thanks!

Question Re: 05 in car show

First off, congratulations on your recent purchase! By far, the most sought after American car in years. For what I am about to say, please take no offense in. I would think it would be pretty hard to show off your car considering its brand new. The majority of people (myself included) will google over it just because its an 05 - with or without any modifications and will probably ask themselves - why is this car here? Unless this show if for new model year, I would think the show was suited for the established class of cars, a 1 year minimum production, a prototype, vintage or newer - but not brand new. If I saw an 05 in a show, I would be looking for the local Ford Dealer salesman or the folks raising money for the raffle to win it.

Are you talking about the Sept, 11 show down in OC? If so I plan to have my 05 GT in that show. I just had the car in Las Vegas at the Mustang Club of Las Vegas show held on May 14. We had around 5 other 05 Mustangs in that show and every one of them different. I would suggest that you detail the car from top to bottom and plan on doing some spot detailing at the show. The wife and I had a great time in LV showing off the car and looking at what other had done. "Its not what year the Mustang is in the show but the fact you have a Mustang to show."
Have fun and go to the show. Hope to see you there.

City Dave, first let me say welcome to the forum! I was actually referring to the Queen Mary Mustang Show on Sept. 25th in Long Beach, here is the website for the flyer in case anyone else was interested in going: http://www.bcmc.net/

I wanted to thank you for the advice and also ask if you could give me info on the show in Orange County on the 11th of Sept. I thought maybe I could take the wife and get an idea on how to show my '05 in Long Beach. Hope to see ya at both shows! Oh, by the way, nice looking Mustangs!

98yellowgt thanks for your remarks too.

It may vary from club to club, but sometimes current model cars are not judged. Trophies are awarded based on popular vote. I belong to the Space Coast Mustang Club and 2004 and 2005 Mustangs won't be judged at our upcoming show this November. Awards are given by popular vote of the owners of the cars entered in the show. We're given a ballot in the goodie bag when we register the day of the show. Check with the Club that is putting on your show to see if the '05's are going to be judged.
