Default Window Tint

Does anyone have a recommendation on what toi use to remove the sticky film that tint leaves when its removed. The previous owner of my 95 GT removed the pass. side window tint but it left a film on the window. Regular window cleaner is just not cutting it. Any suggestions?

Use a razor blade to remove as much as possible. You can try goo-gone, which you can buy at the department store. Acitone would work, too. You can find that at the hardware store. Just don't get it on your door panels.

Goo-gone? I'm assuming by department store do you mean sears or something. Will it be in the automotive section or somewhere else. Also what type of product is this never heard of it.Thanks for the response.

Goo-gone is a solvent that is used to remove almost everything from almost anything. It won't be found in just auto sections but pretty much any section that has garage-type cleaning supplies. You could find it in any hardware store. That'll get off the tint no problem.

My 91 GT is in the body shop getting a full custom paint job now along with body mods and other goodies. Well I thought that I would take off the old tint and put fresh on at the tint shop. Might as well as seeing that I am doing up eveything else. So all I did was tear off the old tint. No problem. Ok, now I had a layer of fim residue all over the glass. So the guy at the body shop told me to use the following and it worked perfectly.

This stuff is made by 3M. It is called General Purpose Adhesive Cleaner. It comes in a red and white 15oz can. The product number on the can is 08987. All you do is spray on a small amout to an area and wipe it all away. It is that easy. It cost 5 bucks. I did every window on the car and they were covered with film residue and I still have 3/4 of the can left. Great stuff . You can get it at paint shops and automotive store's. Or any store that might sell 3M stuff. Good luck . I hope the info helps.
