Default Baked exhaust tips..

Any tips on cleaning my stock exhaust tips? 96 gt auto.

There's baked on chunks of tar, bugs, and crap. It's rough to touch and looks dull because of how hazed and dirty they are. Any abbrasives that would get rid of it but not screw up the metal's finish? Steel whool maybe?

Use some mineral spirits to get the tar and oil off. Follow up with some chrome polish. Don't use steel wool - you'll end up with scratches.

The mineral spirits worked great for the most part. I had no choice but to use steel wool anyway to get off the really baked on chunks of something. I used real fine steel wool and it didnt leave any scratches once I buffed it out with some steel polish. They look sexy now.
