Kit Advise Anyone?

k so heres the hting, i just baught a fiberglass body kit for my 05' GT and im starting to second guess my self about the material, is the fiberglass the best stuff for the kit or would a polyurathane be better, or is there anything better , remember price is no object at this point. thanks for the help

Urathane is the best.

Pmpfactory.com will be introducing the Roadster Kit for the 05/06 cars in next month. Similar to the version for the 99-04 they currently have that makes them look like a 05 but better. They also are coming out with a 2007 Cobra Replica kit for the 05/06 and 99-04. direct bolt on. that will be out in about 3 months.

My understanding is also that Urathane is the best! Much better that fibreglass since it is more flexible and will resist cracking much better.

Go with the polyurethane. Much more forgiving if you hit something.

Man, that looks great. I like the '05/'06 look, but haven't been crazy about the front end. It is almost too much a 'wide mouth' look for me and reminds me in some ways more of an old Charger than an earlier 'Stang. The front end in this kit for the '99-'04s, to me, has less of a wide mouth and captures the idea of modernizing a classic Mustang look even better. Nothing against the 05/06s, they are very nice. I just like this better. I also like that you could unbolt it and put the car back to stock pretty easily. Now if I could only afford the kit! I wonder if they have louvres for the rear quarters on a coupe like the ones offered for the new Mustangs? I'll have to investigate that.

well if you already bought the kit and like it, I would go ahead and install it if you have the tools and a shop to work in. Fiberglass kits are a PITA to install, I just installed one on a celica last week at work and even though the kit was $2500 we had 13 hours in the kit just to install it, and smooth out any waves with plastic filler. and the kid ended up dropping something like $1200 just to get it installed, then he ended up payin like 4000 total to get the kit installed and whole car repainted.

On my car I installed a wings west urathane kit on my focus in my garage and it took a little under an hour to install, plus 30 mins to put a skim coat of filler on a few waves and it was done. The only fitment issues I had was the passenger fender poked out a little becuase it was replaced after a wreck...but same deal with oem bumper.

So if your having a shop do it for you the additional cost of the urathane quickly outways the cost of more labor in an average fibergass kit. Also like they said urathane is much more durable, i've scraped my front bumper HARD a few times and just some chewed up plastic....fiberglass would have cracked.
