I'm just wondering if anyone here has ever done a color change of their interior. I've got a black and tan interior on a '94 stang (you know, top of the dash and ac control console area is black, the rest, including the carpet, seats, steering wheel, air bags, glove compartment, etc is tan), and i'm wanting to get some info on changing the tan to black. I'm just simply wanting an all black interior. Is it possible to just paint on some of the parts (like the air bags, glove compartment, inside door panels) black? or do i have to get all replacement parts for this in black. As well, if are there any places that sell parts for this kind of stuff? I just pretty much want to know everything i would need to know to get the color change. Thanks.
Color change can be done. There is a paint available that is made for the trim pieces. After proper preparation, most of the trim can be painted to the desired color.
Or, you can purchase replacement pieces and parts. Auto Salvage yards of course would have these as well as many restoration companies. By doing some searching online, you should be able to find most if not all of the desired pieces you need. The only downside to this is that it could get expensive.
A combination of painting and replacing would help minimize the cost.
If and when you undertake this project, try keeping notes on what you did. I am sure that there are others that would like to make changes to their interiors as well and you would have some answers.
Good Luck and keep us up to date on how your project is going!

Thanks man, and i'll keep ya up to date on it. I have one more question to add to this. Do you guys know any good sites other than Corbeau that have good, racing type seats that can still be used on the daily driver car? At this time, i don't have the money for custom made and upholstered seating, and i'm not a fan of the '94 seats (especially when they're tan), but i want some custom looking seats. I can spend around $400 per front seat, and about $500-$600 for the rear seats. Other than that, maybe just a new upholstering job would do fine, so anyone from Colorado here know any good upholstery shops? Thanks.

What are some of the best places on the net to look for these replacement parts, and what are some good places on the net that sell black inteior paint that would match the stock black in a '94 stang? And one last thing, about how much paint do you think i'll need?

One of the places that I have seen that carries replacement parts is Year One. I think they even have the paint, but not sure.
As for how much paint, I wish I could tell you.

Oh ya, why do i always seem to remember to ask a question right after i post a message. Anyway, i just need to get info on the interior paint. Is it sprayed on? all that kinda stuff, and how hard is it to match the already black parts? Is there a certain type of like Ford black that i need to get? or is it just regular old black interior paint? thanks everyone

The paint is spray on. As for color matching, that depends on how much sunlight has made its way into the interior. If it seems that the dash has faded some, then it might be hard.
The paint will state that it is for interior trim and you should be able to get it at any auto parts store.

What i meant as far as "regular old interior paint" or anything like that is, did ford make a special code of black paint specifically for their mustangs? or is it just a black color that would be found on any other normal black interior of a car?

This only applies to certain trim pieces, but may be applicable for your purposes too. My first question when reading it was durability -- how long before it scratched/flaked off? I don't know the answer, but for that reason I'd lean toward salvage-yard replacements rather than painting whenever possible...
PS - My 95 is triple-black, and I love it. Best of luck...

Stock -- for now.
Here are the pictures of my car. Everything in here that is tan i want to be black. So ya, hopefully this will help a bit if anyone has some answers on maybe specific pieces like the air bags, dash/console, all that stuff. So ya.
Thank you, that's it. Please help, i'm not a fan of tan at all and really am wanting this changed. I'm garage keeping the car over the winter, so i have plenty of time to work on it, so that is not a constraint at all.
