Default Paint Job Estimate

I have a 5.0 mustang with T-Tops, and am looking to get it painted. Id probably go with flat black, but the hard part is it has some rust. I dont know what panel its called, but the part that goes up and over the windshield, on each corner there is rust about the size of a quarter. There is also one right under the molding on the drver side door about 2X3 inches. Then the driver side rear panel behind the wheel has a crevice right above the molding, but I suppose I could just buy a new panel for that. I know that this project would be quite costly, I just need a few guesses from some experienced body workers to know how much Id need. The car has sentimental value to me.
Thanks

You will have to pull the front glass for the a-pillar repairs. Most paint jobs at a bodyshop will always depend on the quality you want and the condition of the car. If you find someone who does it on the such as myself you will save some good change. You are looking at 2500-4000 for a pretty darn nice paint job from a shop 1500-2500 for a side job of the same quality. Now as far as flat black I would definetly change my mind on that one. Flat is actually hard to make look good and would look terrible imo on a complete car. If your gonna go through the $$$ and labor to fix the body put some gloss and color on the car. TEETO.

Have a look at this dude's flat black, I think it is rather attractive.

yea i also think that flat black looks good, so just dont clear the car when you get it painted just make sure its nice and smooth before you get the base sprayed or you might see something in the basecoat. But dont worry teeto will give you the best advice. ask him. Go with the flat black if you like it.

Superfast you would just leave the car base coat? Ha have you ever heard of UV rays? It would eat the basecoat in a week. There has to be a low gloss clear on it regardless if its flat black. I actually like the pictures of the car in flat looks really good. I like it for say a hood or tops of fenders but it looks better than I expected. Go for it!

Yeah, it looks really good, but I understand what you meant about flat black looking awful. If its just plain flat it would look dull. That car is flat, but he said it had a touch of gloss or something and its a really good paint so its sort of a combination. His forum is in the 5.0 Lounge about painting, he says all his ingredients and such, and Im sure that If I had someone do it for me they probably couldn't get it to look like that so I'd probably go with gloss black simply because it would be a bit risky trying to get someone to make flat look as good as that.

I have yet to see a car with a magical garage that follows it everywhere. And yes the basecoat would be totally worn away due to uv rays. It has no uv protection thats what clear is for.
