Congrats on your new Ride-to-Be!
I think you'll be happier if you don't let the dealer apply any special surface coatings... especially at $395.
Even Dupont states that Teflon does nothing to protect paint. For Teflon to stick, it would require high temperatures.
This scheme is decades old and only the names have changed. A similar system was already installed on my new Mustang so I was stuck with it. It is little more than padded profit for the dealer, and headaches for you if the guy applying it doesn't know what he's doing. Plus, like mine, it likely requires "maintenance" so it's not as if it's an effortless proposition despite what the sales hype suggests.
Do yourself a favor and get a quality do-it-yourself wax. I really like Mothers Reflections Car Wax and Top Coat (and even the Spray Wax for in-between). I also hear good things about their FX SynWax. And there are a lot of other quality waxes out there.
But don't take just my opinion... visit places like
www.edmunds.com or do a Google search for "edmunds teflon coating" and see for yourself.
