Default Need a new hood

Guys I am looking for a new hood. I have an 88 mustang GT. Someone mentioned something to me about ram air, but I'm not sure what that is...

I just bought a stock hood for my 89 LX. It was $75 and even the same color. The Ram Air thing is a fiberglass or carbon fiber hood. They look like the 71-73 Mach I NACA scoops and run around $300. If you don't mind spending the cash and want weight savings, extended cowls or ram air's are cool. Cervini's is one biggie on aftermarket hoods. Since you have the net, check them out or flip through MM&FF or 5.0. The fiberglass hoods do have a bad habit of flying back and busting out the cowl and windshield....get hood pins if you go that route.

Flying back..the front of the hood catches air and flies back at the windshield?

Hood pins allow anyone to pop the hood do they not?

Yep, just put the hood pins in the front to be safe. Don't get a complete lift off unless you're dragging only. Trust me on this one, there are two mustang graveyards near me and both have examples of fiberglass hoods breaking loose and smashing the cowl area and windshield. I'm sure someone will chime in and agree that they have seen this.

I have a Ram Air hood, never any problems with wind, but thats just me. Actually I can leave mine unlatched and it still manages to stay down. Im pretty sure that it is not carbon fiber or fiberglass though. Just makes sure that your hood fastener isn't total junk. It looks really cool too, I like them better than cowl induction, because you dont see them as often on mustangs, Im the only one I know in atleast a 50 mile radius with a Ram Air hood on a mustang, and everyone else has cowls. Id always recommend Ram Air.
