Default Wax and plastic parts

OK, I waxed the car and did get wax on the black plastic around the convertble top - now - can I get the stain out and the plastic back to the original?

Using vinyl protectant before waxing really helps prevent problems like this.

Try a strong solution of car wash with warm water (in a little container) and a very soft toothbrush or paintbrush. Following with a vinyl protectant should pretty remove or at least hide it.

Still there? Next I'd try Mothers Back-to-Black which has some cleaning as well as restorative properties.

If that doesn't work, try 3M Wax and Adhesive Remover, available in or near the paint prep department of auto part stores. Test in an inconspicuous area to be sure it's compatible with the surface.

Talking wax on the black plastic

I know this is an old thread. But this is for all who need advice on this. I always get it on there, but before the next wash, I put baby oil on the black plastic. Then wash the car, comes off all the time.

Haven't heard of that one, but if it works,

Everybody has probably already heard this, but I use to own a detail shop and this will do the trick.
1. get some purple power degreaser ( I get mine at auto zone)
2. get a spray bottle , fill only a quater way or maybe a tad less full with purple power ( remember this should not be a very full bottle of degreaser, it should be almost empty.)
3.fill the bottle the rest of the way with water. shake gently to mix.
4. then spray on a terry towel or on a detail brush and rub over whitened area. dry off and check if repeating is necessary.

this should fix the problem for anybody, i've used this trick thousands of times. then apply dressing and make sure to reapply before the next wax job. HOPE THIS HELPS EVERYBODY OUT. good luck, and remember, KEEP IT CLEAN.

I tried this and it works...But be careful not to rub too hard or too long because it starts to fade and discolor the black plastic itself. Thats irreversable I have found out lol.
