A neat little trick is to use masking tape! Get enough to make a loop around your hand, sticky side out. Now pat the area where the sticky stuff is that you want removed.

You can also use bug and tar remover while you are washing the car.

If you resort to something stronger, be extra careful and go lightly!

**UPDATE** After further investigation, don't use masking tape to remove glue residue from painted surfaces.

yeah highway... then strip off some extra paint / wax while youre at it. That'd be smart!

Instead... Take a hair dryer that blows hot... blow it on the sticker... get it pretty warm/hot, enough to make the sticky stuff a little goo-ey... peel off... take some isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol and a towel and rub the rest down.

While I don't think that masking tape or Bug & Tar Remover will

, I do believe it will help get the sticker residue off. I took it that he already had the sticker off and was looking to remove the residue from the sticker!

You have made a good point for removing stickers. This method is also good for removing taped on badging and moldings.

Thanks for your post milw96cobra!

Great question sterlinator!

I own a graphics shop and milw96cobra is correct. That is the best way to remove stickers if they are vinyl. If its the one with the 3m tape do it the same way but have patience.

Default Quick Easy Way to Remove Dealer Emblem

I had one of those ugly, cheap chrome dealer emblems glued to right above the Ford badge on the back of the car. I picked up a tip from the Mach 1 Registry: Dental Floss!!!! Worked like a charm! Take a piece of floss and work it behind the badge and slowly "floss" the badge off the car. You might need a little isopropyl alcohol (or Jack Daniels..can't remember) to remove any leftover adhesive.

Note: If the badge has been on there awhile, you might have to "soften" the adhesive with a small hair dryer.

Dom: looks like they put it in a tough place. I'd get a hair dryer and warm the sticker up thoroughly. This will get the glue sufficiently warm enough for you to peel the dealer sticker off. Once you get it off, you can use rubbing alcohol to remove any adhesive left on the car.

Get a bottle of "Goo Gone" from WalMart or wherever. Orange based and safe. Works great. We used to use it at the dealership where I worked to removed OTHER dealership's stickers/emblems on trade-ins.

I might just leave it on. Draws attention away from the other scratches.

Gramma says "it does my heart good to see all of you using your heads for something other than a hat rack." Yes, use a good decal remover (such as Rapid Tac or even the el Cheap-o Wal-mart stuff. Let it sit for a few minutes and then heat it up with a heat gun or blow dryer. The schmootz should come right off. Oh, and do it soon. If not then your pint will fade on the car but not under the decal.
By the way. You would not believe all of the stuff that I have seen to remove graphics.
1. Gasoline and a match. (Yes, somebody locally tried this. Do I really need to tell you that he drove a Honda CRX? Dey so funny! Anybody for s'mores?)
2. Douche (Somebody I went to school with accually tried this on his riced up Nissan Maxima. Strong engouh for an import, made for a woman. I guess if it gets that skank ho scent out then it HAS to be powerful enough to remove decals. Hey, I can see his mistake. Douche for a Nissan? Afterall, wasn't this stuff made to be applied on pu$$ies?
3. egg. This is not a bad idea though. It did remove his decal... and his clearcoat... and his base coat...
4. Corvette C5 vert...$45,000. Dealership sticker on the decklid...$0.00. Soldering gun... $15.00. Watching your neighbor explain to his wife why their car has a hole in the composite decklid... priceless.
5. Cow dung. Reality, or Urban Legend? You decide. (I have to believe personally that nobody is THAT stupid).
6. A flathead screwdriver. Sadly, more common than you think.
7. Sandpaper. N. A paper substance with sand or synthetic sand like material used for it's coarseness to remove and smooth surface items. Also see- Dumb@$$ decal remover kit.
8. A laser pointer. I kid you not. I am just picturing this guy sitting in the garage saving $10.00 having it professonally done but spending $50.00 in lithium batteries for his pointer wondering why it won't heat up.

Hair dryer should do the trick, my car had one of those horrible stickers but I refused delivery of the vehicle until the dealer removed it.
