I have a 07 GT Vert in RedFire on order. Should be build week of 7-17.
Just curious of what is the best waxes to use.
Mothers, Zaino, Blue Coral, Turtle, etc, what are your experiences for a deep showroom shine that has long lasting?
when you see these autos at auto shows, the reflections are incrediable. What do they use? Some one once told me that aircraft wax is excellent and durable.
How often do you plan to wax, and how much do you want to spend?
I wax often (because I like to), and have found the Meguiars line of products to work really well. I use Gold Class (on my Ranger) and NXT (on the stang). Zaino is a really good product, although somewhat more costly.
Along with wax, make sure you do a good job with the prep. Wash (2 bucket method) paint cleaner, polish, final product.
I call it personal choice but here is something to think about.
Do you plan to add paint?
Like stripes or something that is paint not decals.
If you do then you want to go to a pure carnuba or none silicone/high tech wax for now.
The reason is the high tech waxes are sealers and penetrate to the metal. Thats all good unless you want to paint on it.
You cant remove it get a proper paint without stripping to the metal.
Then it is difficult for the painter to remove the stuff from the metal also.
I use Mothers Gold and have had very good luck with its holding up and beading.
And yes I do plan to paint sometime. Just dont know what yet.
I have been using Zaino, and with good results. but i also like using a product from P&S called Velocity glaze. It really brings out the color of the car, its not a wax, but a glaze and enhances shine. The pros is easy to put on, and easy to take off. Cons. its not a wax and doesnt protect. I've also tried Meguires NXT and its good stuff also.

Meguires NXT wax goes on great and looks awesome on redfire. The spray detail wax does a good job too at like car shows and quick detailing.Heres a pic of mine ,nice shine too! Deep! B
Zaino has to be the #1, it is the best was i have used, followed by 3M.
In terms of durability, Zaino lasts more than any wax i have tried.
BUT, as with any wax, the final result depends on many factors, starting with the wash, the cleaning, polishing (if needed) and last the wax.
Show shines are not only thanks to the wax, but the paint and clearcoat that was applied.
Wow, Thank you guys and gals for all your feedback and recommendations. On my past cars, I been using Meguiars Gold Class for the car wash, along with Meguiars Gold and the quick spray stuff. I also use NuFinish, and find that NuFinish does a great job in fact I think it does a better job the Meguiars Gold, but not sure on durability. I have not heard of Meguiars NXT, but will also explore it.
To try to answer you all,
Post #2 – GTRaptor – Zaino is a good choice and has been highly recommended by others. I usually wash my car more then I drive it and it is always garaged. I have a 05 Chevy Colorado pickup that is my daily driver. Thanks.
Post #3 – jbstangGT – Waxing once a month or every 6 weeks is no problem, I do not really mind waxing, since I do it in the garage and some time over several days. Car will only be used on weekends for running the roads. The cost is not really an issue either. Thanks.
Post#4 – ixtlan – I do plan on getting painted racing stripes (maybe 3m graphic stripes). What brand is a high tech waxes / sealers? Is Mothers fall into that category? So what I think I am hearing is, when I get the new car, I should have it painted (stripes I plan) before toying with the high tech waxes. Of course being the car it is being built, the paint will need to cure for 30 to 60 days before waxing. Thanks.
Post#5 - Sincitystang : P&S Velocity – can this glaze be used over a wax without removing the wax? Sounds like a good product when entering shows. Thanks.
Post#6 – stlwagon – Thanks, another Meguiras NXT. Will look into it also. Thanks.
Post#7 – gtretroredfire – Wow – your car looks great, exactly the same thing I had in mind for doing mine with the Satin Silver. Mine will also be RedFire with Black Cloth Top with the GT appearance package which includes the hood scope (smaller then what you have on your car). I guess your stripes are painted on. I am looking to get the same, except not as wide but with the pin stripes also. Do you have a picture of the back? I was thinking of including the stripes on the bumper as well, but still planning. Look Great. Thanks.

P&S velocity glaze can be use over wax, but its intention is to be waxed over it. The glaze brings out the color, and the wax covers and protects. I use to use the velocity glaze first, then use a pure carnuba over it. Its a lot of work, but it looks very show.

Thanks for the comps, yes the stripes are painted on.Closest i could get to the medium parchment interior, real close! Didnt want the edge catching wax so hence the painted .cleared stripes. Not even a bump, slick job my painter done on it.Heres the back of it and i didnt go bumper to bumper because with the silver stripes and redfire basecoat if you get a nice deep chip in the front from a rock or something then it would show up like all get out on the silver stripe......and i didnt think it looked good with the backside striped all the way down and not the front so i just stopped em were theyre at.Heres a shot of the backside.Luck to ya on all the choices you have! Brent

Back looks GREAT also. Know what you mean with the rock chip concerns. I am mixed on the bumper to do or not to do. Doing the bumpers appears to be more of a ticket magnet. In Florida, wen it comes love bug season, those little buggers are extremely hard to get off the car, and most likely to stain and or show up on the silver over the Redfire. Extremely nice stripes. Keep them well waxed.
