Can taillights be renewed same as headlights & how best to protect polished intake?
1)to renew tail lights,do the same as for head lights?
2)what is the best way to keep a polished intake looking like a polished intake?(not dull-how do you protect it so you don't have to keep touching it up)

1) If you are referring to renewing your headlights by polishing them, the answer is yes. I renewed the taillights on my 1989 Mustang with a polishing kit from 50resto. It worked great. Heres a link to the how to tech article if you would like to see how it was done:
2) Good question. I have the same problem with my 1992 Mustang convertibleand so far have not really found a good solution. Some recommend using a clear powdercoating to protect your polished parts. The problem with this is that eventually the clear coating will start to yellow. At least that is what I have heard. I decided to leave it and just keep polishing it up as needed. Since my stang spends most of her life in a heated garage, this works fine for me. If it was being driven alot, especially in bad weather, I would most likely have powder coated it.
Hope this is of some help.

Depending on the extent of neglect on the lenses, likely you'll be able to get excellent results with a plastic polish. And the Mothers PowerBall Mini just makes it that much easier. Both are available at your local auto parts store and it takes just a few minutes. I was quite surprised at the short time it took to revitalize my headlights. And the nice thing is the PowerBall is good for polishing bare metal or chrome, too... just use the appropriate polish for the finish... and the extension that comes with the Mini is handy for reaching-in to polish your intake
See my avatar. That's mine. I used Zoops ceramic clear sealer kit. I was happy with it at first, but the application is via a supplied cloth in the kit and the coverage of the sealer is not, as it turns out 100%. Any place the clear, watery solution doesn't cover, will eventually show oxidation. The rest gets a bit foggy after a few days. I plan to remove all the Zoop, repolish and re-apply with a new Zoop kit. Maybe the trick is to apply it in a thinner coat, but make sure it's 100% coverage. Not sure how to assure that. The Zoop kits are expensive, but I know of no other option. I someone has another option, let us know. You can buy the kit (2 sizes/prices) from Eastwood.

If you have the intake powder coated chrome and then powder coated clear, it will always look like polished aluminum. I just had my valve covers powder coated (colored) and the owner was showing me some samples of the clear over chrome. It looks nice and should hold up well. It's not as expensive as you might think.

OK, so I've added a few things to it. Check my Profile - too many to list here.
I renewed the LX tail lights on my GT by just taking them off and using rubbing compound and a buffer and a finishing wax and they turned out good as new, I had a scratch on one of them and with a little work I was able to buff it out. I have done the same with my headlights and they look great as well. As for the intake i agree with having it powder coated clear and you wont have to touch it up after that.
