I am thinking about two toning my 92 lx interior. Maybe painting the console, vents, and arm rests silver, but maybe cream. What would be the best paint to use for this job?

Thanks

I would like to know more as well, my friend and I tried to paint his interior and we just couldn't get it to shine and also didn't know what kind of clearcoat to buy... specific paint brands and names would be nice...

i have painted a few interiors and i have gotten them to look really good. i sanded them down to pretty much nothing then used a flat primer color. sanded it again and then put a few coats of red onto it. then sand it again and redo it to make sure you get it looking good. then add clear coat to it and you are done. just do it in hot temps. dont do it in the winter because paint doesnt dry just freezes. i learned my lesson with that idea.

I used the Duplicolors low gloss black for my interior. Almost a year of daily driving & only the vinyl handle on the door panel has flaked off. But I'm not getting a good shine. I tried armor all on a lower panel under the steering wheel but it turned out funky so this summer I'm going to rip everything back out clean again & repaint over my existing black then use the duplicolor clear for my shine. As for the vinyl handle I may look for red or black ones & not paint it. I was going to go with all black with red accents.
On a side note I had a can of cheap walmart .99 black spray & used it on my hatch door panel. That was sad it didn't go on smooth & if you looked at it to quickly it would scratch lol.

On my 2 tone in my 89FOX I have the AC vent bezzles AC control bezzles white. also for a whileon my gauge housing I painted it white & had masked off some flames in black but it glared on the windshield. I have pictures on the computer but still new to this site.

Ok, I have a Sonic Blue 05 GT. The interior is Light Graphite (gray) but I want it black. I'm not going to paint the seats, I'll get covers for those. I want the door panels, headliner, rear quarter panels, step plates and the dash to all be black. I'm looking into using the dye based on what I have read, but I want to make sure I have everything before I start and have a few questions. I'm not very mechanically savvy, so bear with me...

1)Is 1K grit sandpaper really fine? Is it the black or brown stuff or does it even matter?

2)Does the dye peel off? I don't want to have to redo everything in 6 months.

3)Does the dye work well on carpet? It says it does, but I would rather have the opinion of someone who has used it. If not, I'll just replace the carpet.

4)Do I need to get vinyl paint and the dye or just the dye? How many coats should I use?

Here is a link to the dye I was looking at? Should I order this or can I find it at a Kragen or AutoZone, etc...? Thanks for all the help!

I am currently working on re-doing the interior on my car, but I basically have to do a complete restoration of the vehicle (engine, interior, exterior).

1. I live in Washington (northern state), should I wait until summer to paint my interior? (I was going to do interior now and exterior in summer), but from the post I read above it sounds like its a bad idea to do it when its fairly cold out, or is spring (50 degrees) warm enough?

2. For dash boards and the side panels and all those goodies do you use vinyl paint or the dye? Kind of confused on that, I am not repainting carpet, seats or headliner, I am replacing the headliner and carpet and am having the seats re-appulstered (SP).

3. I really want to do a great job with my own hands, anyone got any tips for me that havent already been posted above that will help me achieve a good look without having to go to a proffessional?

I am doing the entire restoration myself, a learning experience but I want to make sure I do everything good to, since I am going to be living with this car for hopefully ever.
