Default Flat Black Paint Scratches Help

Anyone know how you remove scratches from flat black paint with no clear coat? Its on a 2007 outlaw mustang gt.

Thanks,

Travis

What kind of scratches are they? What's the source?

On the trunk, it looks like someone leaned on it and had a bracelet or ring on that scratched it...nothing I can't live with but just thinking of the future if something were to happen with it. I don't take it out much and want to keep it nice. It seems like I might have bought something that I can't maintain from this perspective. It looks awesome but with no clear coat there isn't any polishing I can do that I know of.

Thanks!

Travis,

Hmmm... yeah... one of the hazards of doing a specialty paint.

Disclaimer: I don't have first-hand experience with this.

Assuming they're surface scratches (and not through the black), I'd simply take the normal approach of trying a scratch remover or a pre-wax cleaner or a scratch remover and lightly approach the area. Problem is you're likely going to change the finish on that panel and may need to use one or two products to blend-in the affected area.

If it were an isolated surface that had the finish, I'd probably try a trim dressing like Back-to-Black which would help mask the appearance of scratches, but I'm not sure that's the direction you want to go, though it might look fine if you buff it with a plush cotton terry towel to a low luster.
