I just picked up my '07 Shelby Cobra and the dealer, bless his heart, had stuck one of those annoying plastic tags on the trunk showing his name. I like the guy but I really don't wish to have it on there. Any suggestions on how to remove it without damaging the paint? It is obviously a stick on, and I know I can pry it off, but am hesitant without some comments. Thanks.
the hard part is getting the plastic part off without scratching the paint-I'm sure others will have suggestions for that-but the "Goo" residue that will be left on the paint,WD40 will take it off pretty easily.I got lucky, when I ordered my wife's '05 GT we specified at that time-and reminded them repeatedly while waiting-not to do that or drill the front bumper for a tag holder(not required here) on hers
another thing-I think the longer you wait, the stronger it will be bonded to the car

For emblems I used some dental floss to remove it, just slide under the emblem and pull...easy

Fishing line works well, too.
Use it like dental floss in a side to side sawing motion.

OK, so I've added a few things to it. Check my Profile - too many to list here.
Luckily I ordered mine and told them NO sticker! But have heard dental floss and a hairdryer to loosen the glue works well. My dad used that technique to get his off. He used a hairdryer, not a heat gun so he did not damage the paint. get that darn thing off quick!

I forgot to mention WD40 cuts the glue residue left when the emblem is off

Woo Hoo someone from Fayetteville! This is what I did to the one Bob Maloney stuck on mine: hair dryer to heat it, then fishing line under to work it off. Microfiber cloth with some wax to remove the residue glue. Took 10 minutes.
Make them take it off.. It was not in your contract when you signed with them to be an advertiser... go down there and tell them you want their detail department to take it of without harming the car (inspect it all after its done) or you will require monthly payments for mobile advertising and at your costs, it would cost $20 more a month than your car payment. Be nice about it first and ask. then play hardball if they refuse.
I used an old grocery store card, same size as a credit card, and slid it under the emblem, cutting through the sticky tape. Then hit it with some "goo gone". Wiped it off with a soft shop rag. It's like it was never there. Took about five minutes.
I've got one of those dealership stickers on the back of my '07 GT as well, thanks for the suggestions in removing it - it annoys me no end and I'm going to see what I can do about getting it off there.
I had one on mine when I got it but... HORRORS... it wasn't a stick on, it had pins!!! They drilled the decklid to put in on!!! I took that thing off and saw the two holes so I went and got another 5.0 emblem and it covered it perfectly. Soon after it became a rage around here to put a 5.0 on your trunk/hatch. Did I start something, I wondered.

You can remove the dealer logo with a piece of dental floss. Just thread it behind the logo as close as you can so you don't rub the paint. As soon as the logo is removed you can use any number of things to remove the sticky residue. I prefer de-natured alcohol myself as it does not leave an oily residue like WD-40 that must be cleaned off also.
Good Luck
