You hard-core detailers are going to freak but....I've used Lime-Away in the past with success. Just don't leave it on the car for ANY length of time. A couple of quick swipes with a sponge soaked in Lime-Away and then immediately rinse it off followed by a wash with car soap. After drying the car and there are still some stubborn spots remaining, repeat the process. Once they are all gone, wax. Keep the car waxed and they won't form in the first place.
Lime-away works especially well on windows because you don't have to worry about hurting the finish. Just rinse the run-off thoroughly.
Lime-Away is a bathroom cleaner that has acid in it. It is designed to be used in your shower/bath/kitchen for removing water spots. It is undoubtedly bad for paint but like I said, don't leave it sitting on the paint. Just a couple of quick swipes and rinse and your water spots will be gone.
You probably know this, but don't ever wash your car in the sun. It's also bad for the paint to take your car out of the sun and put cold water on the really hot paint. Let it cool in the shade a little while before washing. |
