On clear coated wheels, use nothing stronger than car wax. Usually soap and water is enough.

If you have factory alloys, they have a plasticized clearcoat. You can use a detailer, spray wax, traditional wax or what I used on mine tonight, Mothers Plastic Polish with a PowerBall Mini.

It's a fairly tough coating, but use the least-aggressive method of providing shine and protection.

Maybe I screwed up....??
Since I was doing the body, and thought the rims were clear coated the same...I used Meg's wax cleaner, polish, and NXT. Any bad effects to come from this?? Discoloring or hardening of the plastic?? Thx

No worries -- shouldn't be a problem whatsoever!

There are many choices from which to choose... some products just work better depending on what your particular challenge is, but you certainly gave your wheels some good protection to ensure they last.
The plastic polish is recommended when the milder body paint products don't remove some of the tougher scratches.

Don't forget that you can also clay your wheels -- set aside one of your old body clay bars and designate it for wheels (because of the high-grime content on wheel finishes I wouldn't use it on paint again).
