I have driven the car in the rain before (although I do not like to).
I live in NYC.
I was in Toronto, Ontario for 3 days over the weekend. It rained for about 30 minutes when I was there. After the rain I notice water marks or spots on the hood and windshield(no where else). I didn't pay much attention. I figured that this has happened all the time and when I wash the car, the water marks will wash away. OOOOOOOOOOOOOH BOY, was I wrong.
First, I get in the car and try the windshield wiper fluid. NO LUCK.
So, I figure when I get home from Canada, I will wash the car. I get home late on Sunday and I am tired, so I wait until Monday after work to wash it.
I get home at 3:15 pm and the kids and myself pull out the car wash tools and begin to wash the baby.
I got the water spots off the windshield but COULD NOT get them off of the hood. I tried washing, waxing, clay bar, glaze, ALL TO NO AVAIL. At this point I am going ballistic. I take it to the local car wash and they told me that they would try buffing it out for me for 40 bucks, but no promises. Well. thank GOD, it seemed to work.(for now)
One of the workers explained that when the hood is hot, it happens all the time to FORD cars.
I find this kind of hard to believe, but who am I to argue. I was so happy, i tipped the guy 20 bucks.
Has this happened to anyone before, or is it just me?
AND, no, I was not parked under a tree or anything like that.
I should have taken pictures of it the show you guys, but after working like an idiot to try and get the spots off, I was so infuriated and upset, I wanted to get it corrected right away.
Does anyone know what would cause this? Is the ACID RAIN in Canada so bad that i would cause a problem like this??
Don`t know about the acid rain , but maybe apply a few coats of a good wax to your car . Might make for good protection . I have seen water spots like you said about before myself . They can be very difficult to get rid of .

It's not a Ford specific issue. The water drops act like little magnifying glasses in the sun and can make for some pretty unsightly spots. Definately keep a good coat of wax on the car and that will make removal easier. If they did a good job of buffing then problem solved. It's irritating but you can usually always get them off.

Oooohhh VERY good idea!
I've never had that problem before; I usually get the stubborn windshield spots but everything else comes off fine...
The only problem I've had that was almost incurable was the time I ignorantly parked my car under a Poplar tree while washing it. The pollen stuck to the drying water (I forgot to chamois it). I stupidly didn't use a cleaner wax and about an hour after waxing it I noticed that my white Mustang was looking yellow.
4 hours later, after taking ALL of the wax off and polishing the crap out of the paint, I had a white car again.
Make sure you use a decent wax, I use Zaino, and have had no problems with spots. I have had that problem a few years ago with my black GT, but a mild polish took them off.

Had and have that problem, I get spots that ned to be really
buffed out with wax and still they are there, not as noticable
though. It is highly agravating!!! Guess I'll have to learn to use
a buffer and save on manual labor LOL

I've heard nothing but good things about Zaino....several of the guys I work with use it.
I live in mexico and the acid rain is natural here so i get my car>
clay bar every 3 months
polish every 2 months
wax every 1 month
mothers car wash shampoo and microfiber drying every week
and normal wash every 2 days
thats my fight versus "Mysterious Spots" caused by acid rain

That is right. You you have spots like hard water spots on your paint. Use a clay bar it will suck those nasty hard water spots off like magic. Not sure how this works but all I know it does. Remember when you use a clay bar do not go in a circle motion. Rub it straight. This way you will not get those circles in the paint after you wax it. Then after that put a good coat of wax in it.

After you clay - wash, polish, wax and seal your shine in... you'll only have to instant detail your ride from then until the end of season routine... if you keep your ride clean!

I do not drive my car that much so that is all I have to do is just put a little detail spray to it and it looks like new again. As long as you do not get it really dirty you can get away with that.

water spots are tuff the cause is letting water dry on your car now after washing i blow off the car then dry it with a towel useing detail spray now if caught in the rain try not to let the water stand the sun will bake in the water marks sometimes into the clear coat best is to dry it off as soon as you can i know easier said then done but it is what it is hard to keep a show room shine best way to protech is to use a very good wax and do it often
