Default Needing some info on some new wheels for the ride

Found some really nice and cheap motegi's on Ebay , full set of 17's for 390 and a full set of 18's for 429 .. Now I can only find the 17's with a width of 7 inches and the 18's w/width of 7.5 inches. Is that pretty slim and will it affect performance on the stang ? Does it matter to have wider width ? Also the deal with the 18's taking down the torque.... Im in michigan with Icy winters and alot of rain so how bad will the torque loss kill my take off's and hp ? will take all the info I can get
