I love that clay bar system. I do not understand fully how it works all I know is that it works fantastic. Got to be one of the best things that you can do for your paint. And the good thing is it does not take that long.

I saw it in the store. The bar by its self and then a kit. I did not know which to get so left them to think about it alittle more. The car is a 07 I only washed it with dawn twice. I did buy a mg's gold and mg's wax.
I use Ivory on my rims, but Gold car wash on my car. it works great.

Optimum No Rinse. I use one bucket with 2 gals of water, that's it. If the car is REALLY dirty, then I'll blast it with water first at the coin car wash.
No rinse wash is a necessity down here in GA with total outdoor water bans, but once you get the process down it is faster and less of a hassle dealing with the hose. It also leaves a little bit of a quick detailer type of protection.

Dawn, any kind of dishsoap s usually amonia based, which will strip the clear coat from the paint. Years ago the manufactures used acryillic enamel (the smart ones) GM used acrylic laquer. Back then a paint job was about 10-13 mils thick. With the advent of clearcoat, and in order to save money and allesdgedly boosting fuel economy, the manufatures started dipping the bodies to get 2 mils of color and 2 mils of clear. which makes the paint shinier and last longer, (if you don't wash with dishsoap). Had a neighbor who bought an 1986 Tarus new and would wash it evry 2 weeks with dishsoap. upshot was that by the end of his first year of ownership paint was flat, and would not take wax or anything lse, this would be great if you wanted to scuff and shoot paint, but is murder to your cars' finish. BTW 4 mils of paint is not quite as thick as a plastic sandwich bag. So be gentle.
I just used No Rinse for the first time today actually, and the results are amazing. I used to use Meguiars and Meguiars only, but after seeing the shine that No Rinse left, and it only took about half the time I usually take to wash the stang!
Whatever works for you... There are so many opinions as there are products! If it works for you, use it!!

I only use Meguires products. I have had the best results using their soaps, then a combination of their polish and wax. I get the professional line. It comes in the tan bottles.
