Default Anyone Have Suggestions For A Cleaner That Will Take Mold Off A Convertible Top?

Can anyone suggest a cleaner that will take what looks like mold off of my tan convertible top. I have tried scrubbing it with soap and water with a hard brush, it removed some of it, but I am scared to put a harsher chemical on it for fear of ruining the top. I live in Houston where it is very humid and I swear it's just discolored because of the moisture.
Thanks
Joye

I'm not the original poster, but am having the same issue. I have a vinyl top that has developed black spots, mostly on the sides.
Any clue on what can get rid of it? I've tried Raggtop, but it did nothing.

Thanks!

Tan can be difficult because cleaning the spots can also lighten the work areas. White's a little easier.

You can try an oxygen bleach mixture from the supermarket (this would be a "safe for colors" product -- do not use a chlorine bleach). Work the area gently, and it may take a couple of applications.

Or get a specialized mildew product from a boat or RV supply.

The best thing you can do to prevent this is to clean the top regularly with car wash or a convertible top cleaner and follow with a quality protectant.
