Default How to fix scuffed rim?

Hey,

Well, my car had it's first mishap with the curb. And now there's a 4-5inch long scuff on the outer lip of my polished, '99 Cobra rims. Does anyone know if there are any "do-it-yourself" ways of fixing it? I know there are companies that do it for you, but it'd be nice if I could just do it myself and not have to be clean out of cash. Anyway, here's a pic to show you guys just how bad it was. It's a very close up pic, so it looks larger than it really is, remember, it's only about 4-5 inches, not 10 inches, which is how it may appear to be.

Ouch!!

Thats a job for a pro, not much you can do mainly because your wheels are not painted. If they were you could use some bondo and repaint.

Since your wheels have a polished finish, you should be able to sand it out with sandpaper and metal polish. Work the damaged area, starting with a 400 grit sandpaper and then progress your way up to 1000-1200 grit. Finish off with a good metal polish to bring it back to a nice shine. Try to keep it to the damaged are only.

I am pretty sure this will work and you really have nothing to lose except a few $$ for sandpaper. Give it a try and let us know how you make out.

Sandpaper and clear coat spray paint worked for me.
