I've found that Windex is about the worst product you can use for windows if you want no streaks and no film. I've been using Eagle One glass cleaner lately which seems to work pretty well but I still think I can find something even better.

yeah i'm really really disappointed with windex... i've heard some people use vinegar and water or something like that but I'd be too afraid to get that stuff on my paint.

Best way to clean windows is to (1) buy a bunch of cotton diapers -- they sell them in packages of 12 in the "Infant" section of places like Wally World. They work best if thrown in the washer & dryer first. (2) Spray Windex or any glass cleaner directly onto 1 of the diapers & clean your windows; follow it up with a dry diaper & you're done! Sparkling clean -- no streaks. And hey, these diapers work GREAT for buffing out your paint after cleaning or waxing your car.

I'm no expert, but believe me, I clean lots of windows! I work on a 75', 150-passenger Cruise Boat with tons of windows that constantly get little fingerprints on them. Cloth diapers are the only way to go.

I think as the chamois gets older it will get better, often they have to be used and washed many times before they start drying 100%.

LOL

The secret to no streaks is to get the windows dry as fast as possible... a damp cloth, damp newspapers or a wet squeegie will give you streaks... Alcohol evaporates quickly and is an ingredient of many cleaners like windex for just that reason.

Ditch the chamois (it traps dirt and doesn't release it very well) and get a microfiber cloth specifically made for glass (they release dirt extremely well).

I've used several products to clean windshield and side glass and found that Autogleam works really really well.

One way is to use balled up newspaper(black print). Some cleaners even tell you to use that.People been using that since windows were invented.

Im gonna go with Mustang 661 on this one. Microfiber is the way to go. I wash my car, hit it with a microfiber before the windows have a chance to dry, and presto...No streaks. Hell, they even remove older waterspots. And I never even have to use a cleaner on them.

Autopia and others sell high quality microfiber towels for various jobs (e.g., glass cleaning, washing/drying, etc.) So do others, including: autogeek.net; superiorcarcare.net; properautocare.com.

Read the very useful tech articles before you buy: they'll give you good guidance on everything related to car care.

the best thing is to use windex and newspaper, but not he comics you dont want colored in you want the black and white and spray it on the window not on the paper and wipe the whole window then flip over the paper and finish it off with a dry part of the paper. Or also water mixed with vinager.
