I am having a really hard time getting my glass clean and streak free. I have tried 3M glass cleaner, windex, etc. Does anyone have any suggestions on a great streak-free product to try? And I use paper towels... right? It is just super frustrating me!! Please help!
Thanks in advance,
Judi

I use the 3M and have not had any trouble. You may want to try using newspaper with the windex. I used to clean my windows that way; it works. I was told the ink in the newspaper has something to do with it.

I use the Stoner stuff and it works great. Got it at some auto parts store. I think that maybe you're using too much cleaner, use just enough to lubricate the cloth, every inch does not need to be covered.

+ 1 Stoners invisible glass but use a 100% cooton cloth not paper towels. Also clay bar your glass to get out all the crap and seal it with a sealeror good wax.

Thank you guys so much for the responses! I really can't tell you how frustrated I am. I keep my ride immaculate, you have no idea how anal retentive I am about it. I was told by family members and neighbors I am obsessive about it... but when I take it out, the sun shines off the windshield glass (not the 1/4s) it is a MESS on the inside. Being it is on the inside, I can't clay it.... I am starting to wonder if its me!!!
I am going to use your advice and try another product, we have a Lowes close by and I have to see if the auto parts store carries Stoners...
Thanks again guys, I'll post how I make out!

This is going to sound odd, but try white vinegar. And the newspaper. It's rather low tech, but it works well.

OK, so I've added a few things to it. Check my Profile - too many to list here.
Judi -
If the streaking is on the INSIDE ,
First, wipe the glass with a DRY MICROFIBER , horizontally , then vertically.
Second , use a good household glass cleaner WITHOUT amonia -
and MOST IMPORTANTLY - NOT IN THE SUN - I have found the best time is actuallly BEFORE the sun has totally risen -
Reason: the cleaner is actually DRYING/Evaporating on the glass when the direct SUNlight is on it. Newspaper can scratch glass, the best is a 100% cotton cloth OR Microfiber ( I use the cheap microfiber cloths from Wal-Mart for this job)
The MOST important part of getting clean/STREAKFREE glass is avoiding Direct SUN when cleaning. If you have tinted side windows - avoid ANY amonia in the cleaner - it is best to use pure water and a microfiber or 100%cotton cloth , and BE GENTLY - it is only a plastic-film. My tint on 2 of my cars has lasted 11 years . Remember the FIRST STEP , it will go a long way to making STEP 2 a whole lot easier.

I third the newspaper. It works well. I use a product called invisible glass, or something like that, from a local auto parts store. Not top of the line, but works great.

Most glass cleaning problems are in the technique.
Spray a good non-ammonia glass cleaner (I like Mothers) on a quality plush cotton terry or microfiber waffle weave glass towel. In hard-to-reach places I'll use a short-nap microfiber mitt so it's easier to manipulate the towel and I can use the back of my hand.
Clean the glass while it's damp -- add more cleaner if necessary. When you can see it's clean, flip the towel to a dry side, or use a fresh towel, and do a light final streak-free wipe.
If it dries too soon or it dries on its own, that's usually where I find I get streaks.

I was going to suggest that also... But I put a drop or 2 of dish washing liquid in a pail of water and wash the windows and then I use a glass cleaning product that foams to wash the windows again. That works for me and I smoke and it takes all of the film off

The BEST thing for windows is to squeegee them after you're done washing your car. If water air-dries on your windows you get water spots. Crap sticks to those areas first and allow other crap to cling-on too. If you squeegee your windows when you wash your car, you prevent water spots and your windows will stay cleaner longer.
Use some Stoner Invisible Glass on the insides and squeegee the outside.
I used the clay bar on the glass of our '06 'Stang. really cleaned it up nicely. I'm NOT a big fan of Rain-X, and was wondering what would be best to "seal" the glass with to help shed water etc.
I used the Mothers clay bar kit, and was wondering if the polish/wax that came with the set was what to use or not?? (The finish came out GREAT !!!!)
P.S. We have a heated back window, what will not effect the heating of the glass ?!?!?
