Default Car Care Questions!

I wanted to find out if clay waxing the car every two weeks would damage the car? Also how is a detailer used? I mean I just clay waxed and used wax to wax it and it has just a little bit of dust after a few days. Am I allowed to just use the detailer or do I have to wash it again? Last but not least, in the Meguiar's pack it says to use the detailer to clay wax the car. Is that correct? I don't use the liquid waxes, I use the paste. Any input will be greatly appreciated.

You do need to use the spray with the claybar. Never try to use the bar without it.

Thanks Stl. I always used water but decided to give it a shot with that this time. No big difference really.

The spray actually has more lubrication than water.

when I clay bar...I use a mixture of Zaino wash with water. Works pretty good. I have also heard it is a good idea to use the detailer spray as a lubricant too.

Claying your car every two weeks is excessive. The whole purpose of the clay bar is to remove imbedded contaminants from your paint's surface. Twice a year should be adequate for most areas of the country. However, waxing every two weeks shouldn't be a problem.

Also, all clay bar manufacturers recommend using a lubricant with with their product. This keeps it from grabbing and also helps suspend debris in the clay. Quick detailer works fine for this.

Be sure to work your clay bar around, knead it after each panel and if you drop it throw it away. You also need to get a good detail spray and use a good cotton towel or mf to wipe down the car. When washing use the two bucket method.

I agree with jbstangGT...twice a year is absolutely sufficient...more than that and you risk damaging the clear coat...
